Links to Other HIV and AIDS Sites
Here are a few links to other AIDS sites which you may find helpful. Each
of these sites contains links to other sites as well. The internet has many
sites filled with information about HIV and AIDS. Some sites are excellent,
and some sites may have information that may not be as accurate as other sites.
The following sites contain information that most experts in HIV and AIDS
would agree is reasonable. However, as you browse through the internet, we
nor anyone else can assure you that the information you find is accurate.
It is always recommended that you discuss the information you find with your
doctor.
NIAID -- The National Institute of
Allergy and Infectious Disease, which sponsors and funds most of the AIDS
research conducted in the United States. Like the National Cancer Intstitute, NIAID is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH
is part of the U.S. government's Department
of Health and Human Services (DHHS). NIH is comprised of 24 institutes,
centers, and divisions. It has 75 buildings on more than 300 acres on its
main campus in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. The mission
of the NIH is to acquire new knowledge that will help prevent, detect, diagnose,
and treat human disease and disability.
The Body -- A multimedia
site filled with basic information important to people concerned about HIV
infection and AIDS. Information about drugs, clinical trials, and how to protect
yourself from HIV infection can be found here.
HIV Insite -- This site is maintained
by the University of California, San Francisco, and contains extensive medical
information on HIV infection and AIDS. It also has information on social issues,
prevention, community resources, and where to find help.
AIDS Oncology
Resources of the NCI This site is maintained by the Cancer Treatment and Evaluation Program of
the National Cancer Institute. It
provides links to information on clinical trials for AIDS-related malignancies
which are being conducted throughout the United States. Other useful information
found on this page includes an AIDS Oncology Handbook, and links to the
National AIDS Malignancy Conference Program and abstracts.
National AIDS Treatment Advocacy Project This
site provides summary information from AIDS related conferences, drugs available
by exapanded access programs, and newletters on evolving drugs and treatment
strategies. A very helpful site for keeping up with an evolving field.
